ABANDON: One Life To Give

DAY 10 -

Matthew 16:25 "For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it."

The thought of putting a "Red Letter", what could be your final recorded thoughts on this planet, on paper and reading it to those you love must be one of the most surreal moments there is.  Somalia is not a play ground for the faint hearted, impressionable, or naive.  It's considered one of the 'hardest' places on the planet.

This devotion was created out of Amy Cleveland's responses to some very tough questions.  Questions like, "Do you understand the cost and implications of living in Somalia?  Are you ready to die... to be a widow... to possibly leave behind three young children?  Seriously, how can anyone answer these questions?  She did!

"I feel what I can do is obey.  I feel what I can do is trust God.  I feel what I can do is walk with the Lord.  We do all die.  We have one life then to live, to give.  One life.  How could I do anything but that to which I am called?  I am the bride of Christ!  What joyful life do I have if not to take my children where my Lord brings me?  For me there is no choice or thought of choice.  I am His." Amy Cleveland, Missionary, Somalia

My prayer today is that somehow I to can have the courage and awareness to live only for ONE CAUSE.  To know with certainty that my life has ON PURPOSE and that everything I choose to do will position me for just that.

"...Writ with the pen of My Spirit, and 'shrined in My holy lore, But also in hearts I have conquered, men who are grit to the core; Swift as the roe on the mountains, bold as the lion in fight, Fired with zeal of the martyr, ready to die for the right; Hating their lives as I told them, casting them gladly away; Yet deep in their hearts expecting to find them again one day...With souls athirst, their aim is first a burning passion for God -" Refiner's Fire, Wilkerson
